Alfs, I can't get over the fact that Ron Greenwood turned down signing Gordon Banks as he already had a gentleman's agreement to sign Bobby Ferguson from Kilmarnock.
I suppose times were different and there were gentlemen around.

Kilmarnock was my Scottish team as a nipper - cos goalkeeper, Bobby Ferguson began his career with them. I think he may have got a Scotland cap too.

West Ham paid a world record fee for a goalie at the time. £65,000.
